Health

Over the course of my writing career, I have covered the world of health and healthcare from multiple angles - business, technology, wellness and human interest.

I am regularly inspired by the dedication, resourcefulness and talents of the many healthcare providers and innovators.

My own gardening blog - Garden of Aaron - is motivated in part by a belief that many of us could enjoy better health by getting exercise in the garden and eating more fruits and vegetables that we could raise in our own backyards (or patios and balconies).

Here are a few of the health-related stories I have written over the years:

- Time Well Spent, a custom-published story about a new protocol at Medical City hospital in Dallas to diagnose and treat stroke patients with a clot-busting drug that can reduce brain damage and thus improve a patient's prognosis for stroke recovery.

- Want to keep your brain agile and active? This cover story for a custom-published National Education Association magazine offered tips on keeping your brain agile and active. Some of the top tips include practicing sudoku, sipping some daily red wine, learning to tap dance, studying a foreign language or eating more salmon!

- Climbing the stairs is good exercise - but most people will choose the easy way out and take an escalator if that is an option. But what if a staircase also functioned as a giant walkable piano? Volkswagen and advertising agency DDB Stockholm found they could get more people to engage in the healthy behavior of stair-climbing simply by leveraging the innate human desire to have fun.
